Take a bird watching holiday in Portugal's natural rural Alentejo.
Many of our guests have come to stay at the Quinta for their bird watching holiday.
Paradise
The Quinta was superb..... The São Mamede park is breathtaking with wild flowers in
abundance, a sea of French lavender growing wild, and hills clothed in Cistus. There were Nightingales everywhere we went (we were
serenaded for two nights at the Quinta). On our walks we saw bee-eaters, hoopoe and a golden oriole. Paradise!

The Sao Mamede natural park is home to Bonelli's Eagle (Hieraaetus fasciatus, Águia-de-bonelli), Eurasian Eagle-Owl
(Bubo bubo, Bufo-real), black vulture, the black stork (Ciconia nigra, cegonha preta) and Great Bustard (Otis tarda, Abetarda). The area
supports more than half of the species of birds that breed in Portugal and this mountain range is also home to the largest european
colony of bats.
This is a secluded self-contained holiday home in Portugal. A rural country house for nature lovers in
a secret valley in natural uncrowded Alentejo bordering unspoilt Spain's Extremadura. Perfect for your bird watching holiday in Portugal.
