Hiking in Portugal in Vale Lourenço in the Parque Natural da Serra de São Mamede

Distance 6 Km Grade Easy
Time 2.5 hours Type Circular hike

When you stay at Quinta Azenha do Ramalho you can take this easy two an a half hour hike from the Quinta. This could be a morning hike before relaxing in the grounds of the Quinta or an afternoon ramble after a lazy start to the day. Whilst some of you may prefer to bask in the sun and laze in the shade by the mountain stream or paddle in the water, others can take this ramble and be back in time for firing up the barbeque.

You begin by following the road up-stream and doubling back along a forest track into the forest. You climb above Vale Lourenço but never go too far uphill. The forest track takes you back down again a few kilometres downstream where you double back again and hike down to the ford over the Ribeira de Arronches. This is a relaxing spot for a rest and a snack before the easy stroll along the empty road back to the Quinta.
