Holiday cottage Portugal in Alentejo

The holiday cottage in Portugal's Alentejo has been tastefully and comfortably furnished using a combination of traditional and modern styles.

The Alentejo has one third of the land but only one twentieth of the people. Alentejo is peaceful uncrowded and restful. This country cottage has nearly a hectare of secluded terraces which run down to a mountain stream.

This is a private secluded self catering Portugal holiday cottage in a valley in the hills of the Parque Natural da Serra de Sao Mamede near Marvao bordering unspoilt Spain. Overlooking a valley with the mountain stream below.

We welcome you and invite to have a look around this Portugal holiday cottage by using the menu or by going to our home page.

The picture shows the entrance to the cottage yet this is a four bedroom cottage that sleeps eight. This was originally two country cottages owned by brothers who milled wheat with a water mill (azenha) powered with water supplied by a levada which is typical of life in the hills of Portugal. The main part of the cottage occupies the gap between the two cottages and the terrace below them which once contained the levada.

The Sawday guide says: A house of surprises. Low and whitewashed, clinging by its toes to the hillside, it opens up to reveal vast sunny spaces with breathtaking views over the gentle slopes of the São Lourenço valley...
