The Quinta - LocationQuinta Azenha do Ramalho a few kilometres from Portalegre, an easy 2 to 2.5 hour drive from Lisbon airport along modern motorway and the uncluttered IP2 main road. The route from Lisbon is very simple and scenic with views of vineyards and the undulating Alentejo plains dotted with cork oak trees. 
Driving from Faro takes about 4 hours and from Madrid in Spain takes approximately 4 hours too. Public transport is low key in this sparsely populated region. It would be difficult to explore the area without a car during your stay. A choice of hire car companies is available at the airports. Search Google for Lisbon flights
